The Rethamel’s are getting into the spirit of Talk Like a Pirate Day – a day dedicated to raising awareness of the impacts childhood cancer has on families, and vital funds for Childhood Cancer Support – by getting serious about fundraising in their Townsville area.
“Preparations are underway to get as many schools to participate in Talk Like A Pirate Day on the last day of Term 3,” Tracey tell us. “I have interest coming from schools in Bowen as well, and day care centers. Staff from NAB branches in Townsville are keen to participate as well. Students of the schools are being asked to come dressed as pirates on the day, and donate a gold coin. I have contacted the Townsville Bulletin with regards to promoting the event and we are having a feature in the newspaper in the coming weeks, and I plan to contact the local TV networks so they can cover the story on the day.”
“In the lead up to Talk Like A Pirate Day, I have contacted the Cowboys and they have agreed for us to sell Talk Like A Pirate Day merchandise at their home game 2 weeks before the 19th September. In fact, that home game has been dedicated to supporting Childhood Cancers, so it will work out perfectly!”
The Childhood Cancer Support team is stoked to have such strong support from our incredible regional supporters. On behalf of all our past, present and future families of Childhood Cancer Support, we say a heartfelt THANK YOU!
